IMAGERIE D'EPINAL
If you are passing through Epinal, don’t miss the famous Imagerie!
It is the last Images factory still running in Europe. It was founded in 1796 and taken over by two passionate entrepreneurs in 2014. The Imagerie has been carrying on with the creation of Images in accordance with the former techniques acquired in the 18th and the 19th centuries. The guided tour is an opportunity to discover the vast historical workshop and its stock of old machines, which includes a Gutenberg and Heidelberg printing presses, as well as the Linotype and the Aquatype ones. The latter is the oldest and still running machine in the world. The so well-known Images d’Epinal won’t have any more secrets since the lithography and the Images in production are being revealed through the visit. At the end of the tour, visitors are invited to go through a shopping area newly renovated, in which a large choice of old and contemporary Images from fresh talents and famous authors (Sfar, Loustal, Bourgeon, etc…), and many other by-products (tableware, books, stationary items, delicacies, etc…) are for sale.
